New Company Artists Join Ballet Memphis for Season 36
5 People to Know!
Phoebe Magna is from Canton, Connecticut and has been a professional dancer for 9 years, most recently at Boulder Ballet and as a guest artist at Richmond Ballet. An adventurer at heart, she loves learning about new cultures and connecting with people, wishing she could speak multiple languages and travel anywhere, especially places in Europe and Japan. She is really enjoying trying all of the different restaurants that Memphis has to offer. Can you help her out and recommend a few places she should try? Welcome, Phoebe!
Welcome to Cameron Cofrancesco! Originally from West Chester, PA, and recently graduated from the University of Southern California Kaufman School of Dance, he was an inaugural member of the project-based Zeitgeist Dance Theatre established in Santa Fe. Cameron‘s favorite kind of music is jazz, so let’s introduce him to some of our world-famous Memphis blues on Beale Street. He celebrated his birthday here with us on August 19, so please help us wish him a happy belated birthday as well! We’re so glad to have you, Cameron!
Darcy McLoughlin joins us at Ballet Memphis for her first professional position with a ballet company! A native of Long Island, NY and a trainee from the nationally recognized BalletMet program in Ohio, we are so excited she chose to start her career here with us. She is a lover of American history, she drinks iced coffee every morning, and in her free time she works on her cooking skills. She says her favorite thing about Memphis is Ballet Memphis! We agree, but we can’t wait to show her around town and find her some other fun places to visit. Welcome to the company, Darcy!
We introduce you to new company artist Wyatt Pendleton! Wyatt worked with our own Anwen Brown in the National Choreographer’s Initiative program over the summer (you can spot him in Friday’s post in the back left of the group photo). He is from Tuscon, AZ and has been dancing professionally for 5 years. He likes Mexican food, gets hyped up to Elton John, and loves to read. He says his favorite thing about Memphis so far is the friendly people. Let’s keep that going and welcome him to the company!
Angelina Broad comes to us from sunny Titusville, Florida! She was a trainee at both BalletMet and Orlando Ballet and her favorite ballets are “Swan Lake”, “Romeo and Juliet”, and Alexander Ekman’s “Cacti”. She is a dog lover and has a Morkie (Maltese/Yorkie mix) named Asher. So far she has been exploring the Germantown area in her free time and is really enjoying that neighborhood. Followers, where are some of your favorite places for her to put on the list? We’re so glad you’re here, Angelina!
